It’s been a year since the end of the war. It’s been a year, and negotiations for peace are still being handled. Fire Lord Zuko has a lot on his plate, and there is a whisper of discontent in the air.

Amid the peace that has been hard-won, a council has been created featuring members of each of the Nations, as well as the Avatar. The goal of this National Council is simple - to prevent an atrocity like Sozin’s War from ever happening again.

Resurgence is a sandbox Avatar: The Last Airbender / The Legend of Aang role-play set one year after the end of the Hundred Year War. We accept both canons and original characters, and take the story in any direction we'd like, exploring the semantics and problems of a war-torn world rebuilding. We are rated PG-13 with optional mature content.

Fire Nation
The Fire Talon

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is a quiet voice at the end of the day, saying, 'I will try again tomorrow.'

Gender: Female

Nation: Fire Nation

Skills: Firebender, swordsmanship, spearmanship

Eye color: Golden brown

Hair color: Black

Skin tone: Light

A petite woman of 5' 4", Lixia is small but her presence is powerful. She keeps her waist length black hair tied back in a series of braids, and tends to wear lots of black and red clothing. Her eyes are more of a golden brown shade rather than outright gold, her skin very light and somewhat golden in the undertones. She has very good posture, and tends to hold herself with an air of dignity. Likewise, she moves with a notable grace.

Lixia often wears tightly fitting qipao syled dresses. These always have long sleeves, sometimes with loose outer sleeves in addition to the closer-fitting full sleeves, with a slightly fancy mantle. There's often a chain holding a red cloth over her shoulder, with a dragon head where the chain connects. Essentially her clothing is very reminiscent of Fire Lord clothing, simply fancy in a different way, with more dominant black rather than red.

Strong-willed and cunning, Lixia is, perhaps, the image of what every Fire Nation noble aims to someday be, only Lixia didn't have to work for it quite as hard as some. She is almost as a snake, quiet until you get too close, and if you don't back off, she may yet strike.

At a young age, the misfortune of misjudgment fell on Lixia's shoulders. While visiting the Earth Kingdom, specifically long stretches of farmlands that her parents controlled in the area. The young girl was playing in the field as her parents surveyed the lands and spoke with the caretakers, when rebels against Fire Nation occupation of Earth Kingdom territory set the whole farm ablaze. The girl survived, but she suffered severe burn scars across her back.

Lixia calls herself a noble forged in fire. Few understand what it means, but while that day left her with a debilitating fear of flames, forever crippling her ability to firebend, it also gave her a strong desire to be a wanted, and good, force in others' lives. Someday, it was true that she'd become the head of her house, and have to lead her family forward, and was raised with that in mind. She was privately tutoured in a variety of subjects, taught the arts, too, and battle as well. Lixia has no intention of backing down from the future she's envisioned for herself anytime soon, and is more than happy to continue on the path she's been on.

Since she turned fourteen, she's been handling more and more of the house's affairs, and by the end of the war, was overseeing most of them. During her time as leader of her house, she enforced fairer treatment of the Earth Kingdom farmers in the employ, and while they cannot be said to have loved her, they at least did not really hate her.

She was one of the first to release her lands in the Earth Kingdom, turning them over to the farm hands that were working the land anyway, and now she seeks to spread her house's small land claim in the Fire Nation and build more farms. Unfortunately, a lot of the land space she could do so with is presently in use by factories.

Lixia has a love-hate relationship with factories. She sees their merit, but also understands how destructive they are, and knows they are taking up precious agricultural space, as well. She hasn't yet had the opportunity to make it back to the capital, instead ensuring the transition from her hands to the Earth Kingdom's hands went smoothly, releasing several thousand acres of farmland. She's now finished with such business matters, and may return at a later date to arrange trading of goods with the farms she used to control for food.

In the meanwhile, perhaps it is time to go home, and properly meet with the new Fire Lord. And of course, she continues to be the same Lixia she's always been, defying expectations at any turn she can. Well-behaved women, after all, rarely make history.
