It’s been a year since the end of the war. It’s been a year, and negotiations for peace are still being handled. Fire Lord Zuko has a lot on his plate, and there is a whisper of discontent in the air.

Amid the peace that has been hard-won, a council has been created featuring members of each of the Nations, as well as the Avatar. The goal of this National Council is simple - to prevent an atrocity like Sozin’s War from ever happening again.

Resurgence is a sandbox Avatar: The Last Airbender / The Legend of Aang role-play set one year after the end of the Hundred Year War. We accept both canons and original characters, and take the story in any direction we'd like, exploring the semantics and problems of a war-torn world rebuilding. We are rated PG-13 with optional mature content.

I hate myself. Even as I bark at the moon, I don't have the courage to reach out and grab it.

Full Name: Yeiju

Age: 24
Birth Date: August 31
Gender: Male
Birth Place: Fire Nation Colonies
Nationality: Fire, if he's mixed he doesn't know for sure
Alliance(s): Unaffiliated
Living Space:
Presently, he lives in the Middle Ring of Ba Sing Se, but he's currently visiting the Fire Nation with his master, to help forge weapons for the Fire Nation army or something. (General Seiko suggested him. He's flattered... and annoyed.)

Hair Colour: Red
Eye Colour: Gold
Height: 6' 2"
Description:
Big, muscular, and kind of intimidating, but Yeiju's really kind of a gentle giant. He reaches a solid six foot two, with a slightly tanned skin tone, because he spends far too much time in the sun. Wild, untamed red hair is quite long, reaching his mid-back, framing golden eyes. The red is unnatural, dyed not long ago, though bits of the natural black are peeking through at the roots.

As he grew up, more or less, in Ba Sing Se, he sticks to Earth Kingdom fashions, nothing too fancy, and is coated in jagged edged tribal tattoos. Normally his hair is in a messy ponytail, just to keep it out of his way, but he'll also braid it.

Yeiju is entirely unaware of his parentage - he was born in the Fire Nation colonies in the Earth Kingdom, and something, he's not sure what, killed both his parents and left him alone. He does remember his father was gone before his mother, and he had a younger brother at one point but was separated from him. Some time ago, he gave up looking for him.

His mother died on the way back to the Fire Nation, where the rest of his family was - she had been very ill and knew that one day she'd die, but hadn't expected it so soon. Ultimately, he grew up on the street until the age of six, when he took up residence in the Earth Kingdom capital of Ba Sing Se. He made a living off both the kindness of others, and by fishing various things out of Lake Laogai - sometimes, something worth a good bit of money would end up in the lake.

Eventually he resorted to stealing, and got to be rather good at it - that is, until he progressed to the Middle Ring. A blacksmith caught him one day, but rather than turning him in, gave him an ultimatum - if he became his apprentice, he'd get food, shelter and drink, and perhaps a bit of extra change here and there to buy clothes and such; or he could pick jail, it was his choice. Yeiju, albeit begrudgingly, gave in eventually and began his training as a blacksmith.

It turned out the blacksmith, like him, was a firebender, hiding in the Earth Kingdom. From him, Shin Yu, he learned not only how to forge, but also how to control his firebending, at the time rather untamed and wild. In time, he came to his own understanding of the element - unlike was taught to firebenders in the Fire Nation, his experience as a blacksmith made him believe that fire was creation. After all, out of the brazier came a hunk of metal, that, with tempering and heat, became something in itself beautiful.

He's no longer an apprentice now, but he still works with Shin Yu and has generally refused to go elsewhere, despite Shin Yu's insistence that he could easily open his own smithy. More recently, General Seiko and Surya returned to the Fire Nation, and suggested hitting up Shin Yu for new weapons, so Yeiju tagged along.

Yeiju's well versed in the use of a sword, but isn't too shabby, probably because of his sheer physical strength, at beating the fudge out of people with his fists. One lingers around the right place enough, you learn how to punch a guy's lights out. He is a mediocre firebender at best, though he's still learning and working toward becoming a stronger one. He learned all of the aforementioned from his blacksmithing master, along with how to identify the strengths and weaknesses in bladed weapons.

He can also apply sword techniques to smaller and bigger blades, such as sabres, daggers and short swords, albeit a bit... rougher.
